Meet Our Speakers

Sounil Yu

Sounil Yu has 30+ years of security experience and is the creator of the Cyber Defense Matrix and the DIE Triad, which are reshaping approaches to cybersecurity. He's a Board Member of the FAIR Institute; co-chairs Art into Science: A Conference on Defense; is a visiting fellow at GMU Scalia Law School's National Security Institute; teaches at Yeshiva University; and advises many startups. Sounil previously served as the CISO-in-Residence at YL Ventures and Chief Security Scientist at Bank of America. Before Bank of America, he helped improve information security at several Fortune 100 companies and Federal Government agencies. Sounil has over 20 granted patents and was recognized as one of the most influential people in security in 2020 by Security Magazine, Influencer of the Year in 2021 by SC Awards, and a 2021 Top 10 CISO by Black Unicorn Awards. He has an MS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and a BS in Electrical Engineering and a BA in Economics from Duke University.

George Werbacher

Georeg Werbacher is a cybersecurity leader with extensive experience in cloud security, risk management, and program development. He is currently Director of Information Security at Live Oak Bank, an Adjunct Faculty and Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, and a member of The Security Tinkerers. He previously led the Business Information Security program at Blackbaud, supporting product development teams in quantifying risk and integrating security strategy into business priorities. Prior to Blackbaud, George headed the Cloud Security Advisory team at Truist Financial and has also held roles at Capital One and Acquia. He remains passionate about education, actively contributing to the development of future cybersecurity leaders through his work with his alma mater.

Renee Kimble

Renee Kimble is currently the BISO National Manager at Toyota Financial Services with 30 years of IT and Information Security experience in Financial Services. She has helped multiple organizations mature the functions of Incident Response, Third Party Assessments and BISO. Her 25 year experience at Bank of America helped shape the BISO function that the industry is beginning to see more use of today. Renee is an active supporter of Women in Technology, WiCys at the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs as well as the National Cybersecurity Center and mentor of many looking to enter the field.

Robert Woodward

Robert is a technology leader with 20+ years’ experience in both security and technology leadership roles.  He currently a Business Information Security Officer focused on software product security, and has previously built security programs for global BPO and aerospace-defense organizations. His expertise encompasses cyber security, industrial security, export controls and other compliance needs; disaster recovery as well as business continuity planning and testing; infrastructure design and build out; and enterprise resource planning, customer experience and other application planning and deployment. Robert has worked across a variety of industries including technology, business process outsourcing, aerospace-defense, transportation, and telecommunications.
